Our management team has over 70 years of combined experience in commercial banking, corporate finance, management of high growth companies and turnaround management of troubled companies. Our principals have held positions in upper management of large public companies.

Our team specializes in a wide breadth of industries, including oil and gas, global upstream and downstream energy service, shipbuilding and marine fabrication, technology, health care, consumer finance, equipment rental, wholesale distribution, transportation, and retail.

Emile J. Dumesnil

Emile founded Élan Capital in 2001. Emile has over 20 years experience in various positions in financial services and financial operations. Prior to starting Élan Capital, Emile was CFO of a NYSE-traded company, Treasurer of an AMEX-traded company, Vice President of the Marine Finance Department of Bank One and a foreign currency trader for the Wall Street firm of Berisford Capital Markets. In those various capacities, Emile was involved in arranging credit facilities that ranged in size from $1 million to $300 million for a myriad of uses including acquisitions, growth, buyouts, working capital financing, asset based lending and D.I.P. financing. In addition, he has arranged the acquisitions and divestitures of companies ranging in revenue size from $5 million to $200 million.

Emile earned a BS from LSU in Finance, an M.A. in Economics from Boston University and an MBA from Boston University.

John joined Élan Capital in 2005. John has twenty five years experience in commercial finance, corporate finance and business development having held positions in commercial banking, corporate treasury and corporate business development.

Prior to joining Élan, John served in a number of positions at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold and McMoRan Exploration Company including Vice President and Treasurer and Vice President of Business Development for Freeport-McMoRan Sulphur LLC and Assistant Treasurer of both Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold and McMoRan Exploration Company. During his ten years with the Freeport companies, John was involved in over $7 billion of financing transactions in the private commercial and public capital markets, both directly for Freeport as well as for various joint ventures formed to raise expansion and growth capital. In addition, John's work at Freeport included the analysis and execution of various strategic restructuring alternatives involving the divestiture of assets and redeployment of assets into areas of greater economic return.

Prior to joining Freeport-McMoRan, John served as a Vice President of Hibernia National Bank where he headed up several areas including International Banking and Special Assets/Loan Workout and was a commercial lender and relationship manager in the Oil and Gas, Maritime, Special Asset and International Banking disciplines. Prior to Hibernia, John worked for AmSouth Bank in Birmingham focusing on commercial credit underwriting and National Corporate lending. John earned his BA and MBA from Tulane University

Jimmy joined Elan Capital in 2004. Jimmy has 20 years of operational experience in general business management, specifically technology, manufacturing and insurance industries. Prior to joining Elan, Jimmy was the CEO of the ProTier Corporation, a venture funded software firm with clients such as Microsoft, Siebel, BEA Systems and EDS. Jimmy led two successful rounds of private equity placements and served on the board of the company until ProTier was sold to Austin Ventures in 2004. Prior to that, Jimmy worked for 10 years for the Laitram Corporation in both the US and Europe opening offices and installing technology platforms for their various business entities.

Jimmy has a BA in Economics from Dartmouth College.
